You won this in three moves, and the one slip was castling toward your own attack.
Nothing hung all game, which is now three games running. The only move that cost anything was the king move.
11...Qxa2 - the free pawn was also the engine's choice
11.h4 left a2 with no defender, and taking it was the top move, not just the greedy one. The engine's continuation is c3 Nd5 Ne2 N7b6 Qb1 Qa6 Rhe1 Be7 Nd2 O-O: collect the pawn, bring both knights toward b6 and c4, and castle on the other side from the attack. Worth noting where that line puts your king, because two moves later you put it somewhere else.
12...O-O-O - castling onto the wing your queen was attacking
Twenty-three seconds, and the position went from -1.9 to -0.7. Best was Nd5, with the line Nd5 Ne2 N7b6 Rhe1 Nc4 Qb1 Qb3 Qc2 Qb5 Nd2 holding -1.8: the f6 knight goes to d5, the d7 knight follows to b6 and c4, and the queen drops back to b3, three pieces converging on the king on c1. Castling long added nothing to that attack and put your own king on c8, one file from White's. The same wing question cost you the Drotciv game from the other direction, where opening the a-file at your own castled king turned a good position into a bad one.
13...Nc5 - the only move that held
At -3.5 this was the single move that kept the win, and the reason is where the knight was going rather than where it stood: Qb1 Nb3+ Kc2 Qa4 Kd3 Nd5 Be3 Qa6+ Kc2 Qc4. The b3 square is defended by your queen on a2, so the knight arrives there immune and checking. In the game 14.Qc2 let you play it immediately, and taking the knight would have cost White the queen.
What to drill next
- The position before 12...O-O-O, with the same question you faced: where does the king go when your pieces are all pointed at c1. Beat the engine from here three times running.
- Queenside attack puzzles, for the pattern of piling pieces onto a castled king rather than moving your own.
Before castling, name the wing your own attack is on.
